Nothin' but good times ahead...So, let's review the story so far. The liberals are willing to compromise for the good of the nation, the conservatives are scoring political points, the drooling idiot in the corner remains the drooling idiot in the corner but now joined by Senator Senility, and the would-be Master of the Universe in the Executive Branch is kow-towing to the Speaker of the House. For some reason, I'm reminded of a very old Popeye cartoon based on Romeo and Juliet...
In the Roosevelt Room after the session, the Treasury secretary, Henry M. Paulson Jr., literally bent down on one knee as he pleaded with Ms. Pelosi not to “blow it up” by withdrawing her party’s support for the package over what Ms. Pelosi derided as a Republican betrayal.“I didn’t know you were Catholic,” Ms. Pelosi said, a wry reference to Mr. Paulson’s kneeling, according to someone who observed the exchange. She went on: “It’s not me blowing this up, it’s the Republicans.” Mr. Paulson sighed. “I know. I know.”
I hope this doesn't reveal me as an idiot, but that second link doesn't seem to contain the quote. Nor does the quote seem to come from the first link. Where did the quote come from?
