He, who by good deeds covers the evil he has done, illuminates this world like
the moon freed from clouds. - Buddha
My Google homepage is loaded with stuff. Guitar tabs, various quotes, various news sources, links to Dilbert and Steven Pastis, bridge, Tetris and Mah Jong games. I generally read the news, get frustrated by the Mah Jong, and enjoy what I can. The Buddha thing started as a way back into the heart of the significant other -- yeah, that worked. Still, I find some of the stuff worthwhile...there's some irony in this one. We all do a mix of good and bad -- unless you're a televangelist, a Neo-con, a Bush supporter or any other sort of brainless enthusiast. I have no desire to learn Sanskrit, but the "cover" has some interesting ambiguities -- cover as in fertilize? cover as in camouflage or cover-up? cover as in "cover your debts?"
Disinformation.com has announced a virtual Iraq War Memorial. Since Dubya Say Wha doesn't like to attend funerals or talk to the wounded, crippled or survivors of this debacle, I wonder if some enterprising, disillusioned libertarian junior staffer could figure out a way to have pop up on his computer screen everytime he loses a game of Pong? Perhaps one of our NSA readers could do it? And, exactly how does putting a memorial in the ether really make an difference? When the AXE was wondering around the Worcester Campus of the University of Paris circa 1310 with Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus and all the other heavy hitters, we signed a lot of petitions. End the Vietnam war, eradicate racism, smash poverty, Go Bruins, and lower the drinking age in Massachusetts to 12... this is probably more meaningful in that someone is paying to put it on the web, whereas all the well-minding enthusiast needed was an excuse to cut class, some paper and a card table, but not much more.
The Times leads with the really amazing news that Senator Clinton of New York is running for President and "I'm in this to win!" Really? I thought that committing huge amounts of time, money and brain cells as well as those of your friends and family to a cause that really doesn't make a fuckovalota sense was something you did out of boredom. Why is she a viable candidate? Bubbaclinton? She is a perky middleaged blonde with a vagina? In that case, why not, oh Joan Rivers? Madonna? The "I'm in it to win!" crap makes me think of Katherine Harris -- the scariest picture of which was when she babbled that crap to Larry King or Bill O'Reilly or somebody? Fascist-slut dupe of the Bushes in 2000 was one thing; delusional-Fascist-slut with botox eyes and enormous hooters on horse was very frightening indeed. Go Florida... Or course there was also the time that ShireDuck QB Matt Hasselbach announced at the cointoss in overtime that " We'll take the ball and we're going to score..." shortly thereafter throwing an interception that resulted in someone else scoring. Of course, the Shireducks went on to score, the following year...
The Post informs us that Dubya Say Wha is proposing a tax incentive to make health insurance more affordable. Nice thought. He is obviously appealing to the socialist aspect of his base -- to each according to their economic status. Idiot. A tax deduction or a tax credit is a nice April 15 gift - but, if you can't afford to pay the monthly premiums, you can't afford to pay to get the health care so you can't get the April 15th gift. Of course, this will make health care more affordable for those of us who have it, as well as putting it in easier reach of people like Mick Jagger and Lindsey Lohan...
"Anarchism is founded on the observation that since few men are wise
enough to rule themselves, even fewer are wise enough to rule others."
- Edward Abbey Not a lot else to say there...He nailed it!
