Macho hobbit -- sounds like a contradiction. However, there are bunches of them around. I had a company commander who was a nerd, the nerdiest of the nerds and hence was dangerous because he thought he was a cowboy. I almost worked for a guy at the Redmond branch of Satan's Army who was about 3.5 feet tall and was devoured by a Napoleon complex combined with having been Steve Baumer's executive assistant until he moved up in the corporate world. Or down -- not sure how that went.
But, Bill O'Reilly is showing his hobbit-gunslinger side in this week's column. He wants to complain about how absolutely lousy California schools in particular and American schools in general are. Hey, not exactly news, but no child left behind could ask less than an adult occasionally bitching about it. He starts strong, with a commentary on statistical evidence of youthful ignorance -- not knowing where Iraq is, not knowing where Afghanistan is, not knowing who Dick Cheney is. But then, he goes looney again -- macho hobbitry at it's best.
" In the face of that
depressing situation, the state of California is taking action. Earlier
this month, the state Senate voted 22 to 15 to prohibit textbooks or
instructional materials that "contain any matter that reflects
adversely" on persons because of their ethnicity, gender, disability,
nationality, sexual orientation or religion. In addition, the
proposed law would mandate textbooks include the study of "people who
are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (and who have contributed) to
the economic, political and social development of California and the
United States of America ..."
The educational madness in California is part of a secular strategy to
de-emphasize academic discipline in the classroom and replace it with
an imposed worldview of tolerance and diversity. "
I know that there were a lot of great gay Americans; hell, I know a few of them personally. However, this has nothing to do with educational madness or a secular agenda. I agree that it's a fairly tangental area; I think California already has a law on the books forbidding discrimination based on sexual preference. Libelous school books would be a good example of such discrimination.
But, BillO needs to get some ass chaps. This is of little import; intelligent design is an example of educational madness driven by a particular agenda. Science, Math, History, English are dumbed down -- largely by Fox. And, by Keith Obermann's soon to be the retired champion of the worst person in the world, Bill O'Reilly.
By the way, did he ever publish his list of Bill O'Reilly certified seditious and traitorous Blogs and commentators. That's C-R-U-S-A-D-E-R A-X-E, bub.
