I heard Dubya Say-Wha announce that he had read the articles in the papers this weekend (ok, do we believe him? ) about invading Iran, nuking Iran and all the rest. I know here in Washington prevention means force," Bush said at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. "It doesn't mean force, necessarily. In this case, it means diplomacy." Well, Crusader AXE just finished Chain of Command by Sy Hersch
and am about half way through Cobra 2. Let's just say, I am not convinced of anything except that if it demonstrates bad judgement driven by ignorance and ideology, and involves rapture, end times, oil and someone's exaggerated sense of where they are in history, power or pecking order, there is nothing I would put past these guys. Hersch is occasionally wrong on details, but seldom on the main thrust of the story.
On Hardball, he was fairly clear that the military thinks using nuclear weapons would be stupid, immoral and unethical. Now, in fairness to General Officers and Admirals, in general, they are very bright and rational guys (although not so you'd notice with Tommy Franks...) and not used to dealing with fucking lunatics. Boykin is an exception that proves the rule. If only Bush could sit down with the President of Iraq over a nice cup of Persian coffee and look soulfully into his eyes the way he did Putin...
