The great Crispin Sartwell, Philosopher-poet and kazoo player, has really hit a level of profundity this morning. Actually, yesterday morning, but I was trying not to blog. By the way, as our Spiritual Father, the Defeatists are largely Crispin's fault from an inspirational point of view. So, blame him, right wing delusional jackals.
In a bit entitled It is what it is, he points out that accepted philosophical concept that language produces our reality is unsatisfactory. "you end up yapping for years about questions like: is it amnesty? is it civil war? assmonkeys. it is what it is."
Well, from a sematics point of view, our current tortured world has been reduced to fragments by our beloved leaders. One yearns for the simple hypocritical or self-delusion of the Clinton years, when we debated issues of whether or not fellatio is sex or what did it mean to smoke marijuana or what is the meaning of being...what the definition of is is.
DR DREAD
Language does in fact define not reality but rather our ability to describe things. So, the advantage of profanity and obscenity in describing things like the immigration debacle as snake-fuck of a goddamn piece of negative masturbation by toad sucking turdbrains or the Iraq mess as goddamn screwed up delusional example of syphlitic dickheads trying to achieve immortality by buttfucking the American and Iraqi people is simple utility.
Now, Crispin is a post-analytic philosopher. Just for fun with language, Ludwig Wittgenstein reallyAt times, he reads like Rumsfeld... for example --
set the bar high...
4 A thought is a proposition with a sense.
4.001 The totality of propositions is language.
4.003 Most of the propositions and questions to be found in philosophical works are not false but nonsensical.
4.0031 All philosophy is a 'critique of language'. The apparent logical form of a propositionneed not be its real one.
4.11 The totality of true propositions is
the whole
of natural science
4.461 Propositions show what they say; tautologies and contradictions show that they say
nothing.
Of course, as the notes point out in the link to the Squashed Philosophers, Ludwig probably went to high school with Hitler. That could ruin anyone's day or life-- particularly a solipsistic Jewish depressive who may have been the inspiration of the Jew in Mein Kampf
Wittgenstein is the king of mental masturbation. Completely useless statements which merely re-state what we already know in more complicated terms. Yeah, sounds like Rumsfeld.
