orange county has a problem. people want out.
yeah, i live in orange county, ca - home of lily white subdivisions and gated communities. but did you know that our most populous city, and county seat, is 72% hispanic and rated the #1 most difficult city in which to live in the U.S.? gee, those dishwashers have to live somewhere, i guess. you know the ones.. that the orange county based minutemen are attempting to have arrested. yeah them.
this county is full of strange little situations like that, hell, virtually everyone i know speaks of getting the hell out of here at some point. so i was less than surprised to read this headline in the local paper this morning.
robinson ranch is one of those afore-mentioned lily white subdivisions that abuts a lily-white gated community - they both abut a little place called the cleveland national forest. hence.. no way out.
upper middle class and the truly upper class trapped in a world of their own making. i love it. someone should write a book. oh wait. time to catch up on your ballard before it all comes true.
PS in case you think there's nothing worthwhile here at all, check out this flickr group on santa ana that i found whilst searchin the web this morning.
What if a disaster did strike...imagine the sight of rich people clawing past each other to escape. Driving their Hummers over the dirt for the first time.
Several people from my high school lived in there. Robinson Ranch is the last turnoff before that road veers down into Trabuco Canyon road--where the cool stuff is, like biker bars and Hindu monasteries.

I thought the Ballard you were going to reference was this one.
