i hate to get all bush-centric here at defeatists! central this early in the morning and on a monday to boot. but i'm struck nearly dumb each time mr. bush strikes a indignant and highly moral pose.
WASHINGTON - President Bush on Monday said disclosure of his domestic eavesdropping program was a “shameful act” and said he will keep using it “for so long as the nation faces the continuing threat of an enemy that wants to kill American citizens.”
what does one say to the disembodied voice in the room who decries the revealing of his secrets as shameful? possibly more to the point, what does one say to the folks who take this seriously?
think about that, later today, when the democrats come out on the attack with their "..most _____ ever" 's and their "...I am mortified at the president's _____" ' s and all that.
all the true believers on the right and the left can't buy enough x-box 360's to save us from this circle of indignance.
i think i'll have another cuppa joe.
So this is Bush's Jimmy Swagart moment, eh? I'm not sure if this is righteous indignation or just pure hateful indignation. I guess I don't really care.
But, dude, you've got to admire his reasoning on why it's kosher to spy on the American people:
He uses the Constitution as justification for violating the Constitution. This guy is undefeatable.

I suppose this is the sort of Circle Jerking that one learns within the secret confines of a Skull and Bones initiation. What masterful stroking.

Being indignant about abuse of executive power is like being annoyed with election fraud.
